His sense of humour

He kept telling jokes and they kept laughing. He kept telling jokes because they expected and wanted it of him, the hungry humans. They weren't laughing because he was funny, but because they thought he was. He wasn't really. His jokes were kind of forced, as if he plucked them before they were ripe. Only a couple of times did he get it right. He did have a great sense of humour, dry and cool...only it was spoilt by arrogance, by the awareness of its greatness...which thus decreased.
Can he be blamed?
